Hey, welcome to my little travel blog from England. Once again... This time, we're spending four days in Cambridge and three days in London with a stopover in the Cotswolds. If you're thinking that London and Cambridge aren't so far apart that you need to make a stopover, you'll find out why we're making a little detour later in the week.

In any case, we arrived at London Heathrow Airport this afternoon and picked up our hire car. Everything went smoothly: the airport was almost empty, we got through security without any problems and immigration, which now requires a so-called ETA form, also went smoothly. Only when the guy at the Hertz (car rental) counter tried to palm us off with an English MG did things go slightly downhill.
I love the English very much, but their cars are not exactly diamonds among gemstones. It's hard enough to get used to driving on the left side of the road. But then to do so in a car whose chassis is so unsuitable that smoke starts coming out of the bonnet after a minute is really difficult. Fortunately, everything turned out fine in the end. After exchanging the rental car, we learned our lesson: for a relaxed drive, it's better to steer clear of MG
And then we finally set off for Cambridge. Although the roads were very busy, we arrived at our first stop after two hours. Waitrose, a quarter of an hour outside the city. Unfortunately, dinner and breakfast don't just make themselves in a holiday flat. In conclusion, I can say that I still prefer M&S Food, but Waitrose also has a huge range of products that you can definitely do something with.
As is always the case, we spent more time in the supermarket than we had planned. So we moved on to our flat and cooked ourselves a delicious dinner. Because we decided that couldn't be all, we went out to explore the city after all. We didn't manage to do the punting tour we had originally planned, but Cambridge at night made a very aesthetic first impression. Especially with the small illuminated alleys lined with typical English brick houses on both sides.
Don't worry: the diary will become a bit more aesthetically pleasing over the next few days :)
