Herbst Trend #1 English chic

The slightly cooler weather has barely arrived and already the first trends for this fall and winter are appearing. Especially when scrolling through social media feeds, it's noticeable that English chic is right at the top of this year's trends. Since I'm already a big fan of the English lifestyle, I've decided to use this blog article to convince you to join in on this trend. If you're already convinced, look forward to some useful shopping and style tips.

So what does “English chic” actually mean? English chic is not just a style of clothing, but rather a whole lifestyle. But of course, not that of an ordinary English person, but that of the old-established landed gentry. So you could see this trend as a replacement for the long-preferred old money style.

When you imagine English chic, a picture pops into your head of a stately country cottage surrounded by English fields and small villages with pretty brick houses. And, of course, this country cottage also has the family that goes with it. An extended family where everyone lives under one roof, enjoys throwing parties and fox hunts, and pursues a thoroughly unconventional lifestyle.

But since we can't just move into an English manor house, we can at least bring their fashion to us. But what exactly does that mean?

Well, how do you imagine a typical outfit for a member of such a family? I would picture someone wearing a Barbour jacket and Hunter boots.

This is precisely the image that English chic actually tries to convey. Only in a slightly more modern and urban way. Because I think running around in rubber boots all the time could be a bit uncomfortable, even if Hunter is one of the higher-quality brands in this sector.

To gradually understand the style, let's first take a look at the color palette, because it can make a big difference. English chic fashion is based on earthy brown and green tones. Occasionally, there may also be some beige, white, or even a small splash of red or mustard. The patterns are very similar: mostly a slightly more subdued check, which is also often found in Barbour products.

Now that we've clarified that, we can put together our outfits in the appropriate style. The Barbour jacket is, of course, very important here. Even though the original is of very high quality and can last for many years if you wax it regularly, the price of over €300 is not necessarily worth the trend for everyone.

However, there are numerous brands that have already caught wind of the new hype and have long since included this design in their range. If you search for “barn jacket,” you'll find an incredible number of products that fit perfectly into the image of English chic. You'll find specific links at the end of the article.

It is best to wear sweaters in neutral colors underneath, matching the color scheme. If it is too warm for a classic turtleneck sweater, a blue or white shirt, preferably in linen, will also do.

This can be combined perfectly with flared jeans, which are also very popular at the moment. This cut flatters the figure and also looks cool, especially if the pockets have a certain extra design.

Now let's move on to shoes and accessories. I have to say that shoes are not so easy with this trend. Of course, we all have the image of classic Hunter boots in our minds, but as I said at the beginning, it's unlikely that you'll be wearing rubber boots all the time in everyday life.

I have to say that I always like to go for the well-known and very popular cowboy boots. And I think that with their brown style and mostly suede construction, they definitely fit in with this trend.

Finally, let's take a look at accessories. To be honest, I never thought that people would start wearing scarves again. But now they are: scarves of all styles are back in fashion and they go perfectly with the English chic look. Whether worn around the neck, around the wrist, or on the handles of handbags.

Speaking of handbags: which ones are best to carry? Here, too, color and material play a major role. Dark suede is the perfect design that can be combined with any outfit, not just those in the English chic style. For bags like these, I always like to check out the &other Stories website, because this brand often has very trendy and high-quality designs.

Sooo, and now I hope I've been able to give you a detailed insight into what English chic actually means and what outfits you can put together to follow the trend while still incorporating your own style.

As promised, here are a few product links :)
